Erin Barr: Upholding Values, Ensuring Justice in Chesterfield County

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have a real people's champion at the helm of our justice system? Someone who really knows the ups and downs of life in Virginia, someone who is deeply committed to making our communities safer? That someone is Erin Barr, and she's stepping up to run for the position of Chesterfield County Commonwealth's Attorney.

Erin is as local as it gets. Born and raised in the quaint town of Amherst County, nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, her upbringing was steeped in values that resonate with every Virginian: family, hard work, and community. Growing up as the daughter of a State Trooper and a Critical Care Nurse, and alongside her older siblings, John and Marie, Erin learned early the importance of balance: work, family, and responsibility.

After high school, Erin's dedication and tenacity took her to Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Virginia, where she earned her degree in Political Science and Sociology, graduating Magna Cum Laude. Never one to rest on her laurels, Erin continued her academic journey at the University of Richmond, again graduating Magna Cum Laude.

Starting her professional journey, Erin was selected for a clerkship with the Honorable John R. Doyle III and the Honorable Mary Jane Hall in Norfolk Circuit Court. From there, she spent a decade serving Chesterfield County as both an Assistant and Deputy Commonwealth's Attorney.

Despite her career successes, Erin felt a deep calling to help those most in need, which led her to serve the City of Colonial Heights as a Senior Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney. Here, she works tirelessly for those impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse. She has also previously served as the Interim Commonwealth's Attorney of Dinwiddie County.

Away from the courtroom, Erin juggles roles that many of us can relate to. She's a dedicated mom to her son, Joseph, and a loving wife to her husband, Chris. When not working or advocating for justice, she's cheering at local youth sports games, embarking on family adventures, or planning the next great family trip.

Now, Erin is ready to bring her extensive experience, passionate advocacy, and relentless dedication to the role of Chesterfield County Commonwealth's Attorney. Her goals are simple yet ambitious:
